Glitter, silver ribbons of fabric and dazzling costumes will take over the Red Centre when fabALICE Festival returns to celebrate inclusivity and diversity from 7-10 March 2024.
This year’s event will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the widely acclaimed film The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, in which two drag queens and a transgender woman journey from Sydney to Alice Springs in an old bus named Priscilla. Events and activations across Alice Springs will pay homage to the cult film with attendees encouraged to find their inner Priscilla and dress bold, glitzy and bright.
Ticketed events include a Comedy and Cabaret show with Rhonda Burchmore and Geraldine Hickey, the famous Priscilla Under Lights Gala with headline act Electric Fields and the ever-popular Drag Queen Bingo, hosted by Party Passport.
fabALICE Festival board chair Stuart Ord said there would free family-friendly events for people to get involved in including Drag Queen Storytime and Singalong.
“The FabALICE committee and dedicated volunteers have been working tirelessly to put together a festival that includes something for everyone and will attract visitors from across Australia to the biggest Pride after-party in the desert,” he said.
The festival is a great example of the diversity and uniqueness of the Northern Territory and the events that take place here, many of which help travellers celebrate their interests while discovering a new destination. They also attract people from across the country and help cement iconic destinations such as Alice Springs as must-visit locations.
fabALICE is supported by Northern Territory Government through Northern Territory Major Events Company (NTMEC). NTMEC supports around 60 to 70 events through the Event Funding Program, supporting organisers with event strategy and industry advice.
